The Fly Fisherman

Today I spent over an hour talking to a fly fisherman. He owns a store, and I wanted him to buy from me. He decided he is going to close his store, but decided he wanted to teach me about fly fishing, selling advertising ,and life in general.

I now know more about fishing than I ever imagined (I think I might like to go sometime). Regarding advertising, he told me to always have a back up plan to lower the price bc people never want to spend what is originally offered. As for life, he said to be sure and live it to the fullest. Something about there is no beauty contest when we die, so don't be afraid to get many cuts and bruises along the way. Then we started talking about sky diving, but I said I didn't have the money. He said I should do it the next time I get money, bc if I buy a new suit I might get complimented the first time I wear it, but my sky diving memories will last forever.

the fly fishing man is wise because he makes his living selling fishing supplies. he is not caught up in the every day stresses of bitchy co-workers or working from 6:30-8 or having to spend $200 on a suit. he gets to do what he wants when he wants, and is his own boss. i wish i could spend all day fishing instead of going to class. it's very relaxing.

The fly fisher's outfitter is located in the Jefferson Mall on the corner of Jefferson and Veterans. Tom is a very wise man. and he seems to geniunely be concerned about me having to sell advertising. he always asks me how i'm doing with my rounds and offers me new leads. he also warned me that sales is a hard life full of long hours. He debated long and hard about closig the store, but decided that it would be nice ot be able to leave and go fishing whenever he wants. He used to lead fishing trips to cool places like Colorado & Mexico. I was jealous and told him that he had inspired me and tha tmayb ei would just leave for good. His reply was to have fun and he would let everyone know when i turned up missing.
