Recent Observations

  1. Beauty Salons in Boys Town can be very entertaining. The stylists are way friendlier than your typical ones.
  2. People from other parts of the country disapprove of tanning much more than anyone I know from Illinois. In fact, I think I’ve heard as many negative things about it lately as I have about smoking. (And no, I’m neither incredibly dark nor leathery looking).
  3. Sex and the City is very addicting. I think it might be my worst addiction at the moment (and we all know there’s a lot of competition for that one). I’m watching yet another episode right now rather than studying. What’s worse, I almost stayed in both nights last weekend to watch it. Sad, I know.
  4. Sharper Image doesn’t sell vibrators, they sell neck massagers (sex & the city)
  5. Where the hell did Dr. Dre go? Has he done anything in the last 5 years? (I expect an answer to this one from the hood b/c I know you have an answer: a.k.a. Dow, Evan & Wanless)
  6. Techno hasn’t completely died yet, unfortunate as that might be. (And, this isn’t in reference to some techno club I recently visited).
  7. The Ipod might quite possibly be the best invention ever (well 2nd only to laptops). I got one for Christmas and it has already changed my life dramatically. I don’t know how I ever lived w/o one. Seriously.
  8. It seems like weekend plans always seem to fall on one day a month & then you have to choose what to do.
  9. There is a huge cutout from the newspaper on my fridge entitled “Addicted to the Web.” I’m assuming Kate put this up before she went home in Dec. The sad part is, I honestly just noticed it last week. I guess this just goes to show how little time I spent in the kitchen during finals, and probably also that I really am addicted to the web.

Regarding your comment about Dr. Dre, he has taken a permanent hiatus from rapping and has no plans to do so any time in the future. He is interested only in producing and since his last album, he has produced superstars such as Eminem, 50 Cent, and The Game.

As you are aware, in 1992, he released the critically-acclaimed album, "The Chronic". In November of 1999, he released his follow-up "The Chronic 2001". Dr. Dre has released a new album every seven years and thus, if history repeats itself, he's due for a new album later this year. Unfortunately, the odds of this are slim, although he did release the single "Keep Their Heads Ringin'" sometime in 1995 or 1996.

To be honest, I still listen to the original "Chronic" album every Friday on my way to work. I consider myself a huge Dre fan, but unfortunately, he hasn't been keepin it real thus far this decade. Well, their's your rap history lesson for the day.
