Nearing the End

So, today was a little rough. Ms. Hansen and I are trouble together. Thailand should be fun, especially with the added influence of Sean. Aside from hurting, I guess I should be happy since we made it through the typhoon and a small earthquake, both of which I think mighty happen here a lot. Yesterday we saw a shrine that was preserved in a mini forest. It was really pretty and very peaceful. By the way, I’m getting really tired of the company visits- I’m actually sitting in one right now. Thank God tomorrow is the last day. I really hope this presentation ends soon- I need a nap. Side note: I’m writing McDonalds a letter when I get home telling them how wonderful they are. I would pay $300 right now to be at McDonalds.

Japan is interesting. I’ve been all over the world and Japan is the first place I’m jealous of. Europe is just gorgeous and has a very classic feel with history deeply rooted into their culture. China is an emerging economy struggling for their place in the world and to gain recognition for everything they’ve achieved thus far. Their culture is still very old world, but becoming more Western every day (and by Western I really mean American). Japan, however, is different. They seem to have abandoned the past and embraced the future. They are more Western than any other place I’ve been (but I guess I haven’t’ been to Europe in quite a while so who knows). The city is clean, the subways are efficient, and technology is everywhere. There are TV screens on the sides of buildings and their cell phones can act as debit cards. I really hope we get their cell phone system soon. Actually, I’ll throw in the metro too because Chicago’s sucks.

I forgot about the toilets. My first night in China I went into the bathroom at the bar only to find three wholes in the floor. If there hadn’t been a woman in their passing out towels, I honestly would’ve thought I’d walked into the wrong bathroom. I asked the Taiwanese girls all about it later, which made them laugh. Marcy decided she actually likes them better since she is so sort. Japanese toilets are awesome though. They have heated seats, flushing sounds, a built in deodorizer and a bidet.
