Obsessed with the Ending

Recently a good friend of mine was cleaning out her apartment before her big move and opted to give me some of her stuff rather than pack it. Being the avid reader that she is, she of course wanted to give me some of her books. When she asked whether or not I read, I had to stop and really think about the question.

In all honesty, I don't really read that often. That is of course excluding the Red Eye and my friends' blogs. But with that being said, I sort of wondered why it is that I don't read. When I was younger, I read books all the time and I found them as sort of an escape from daily life. I decided that the reason I no longer read was simply because I felt guilty reading pleasure books considering for the past 6 years I have always had an unfinished book (or 3) that was either assigned by school or work.

Now that I no longer find myself in this predicament, I have decided to read Leticia's books. I now realize that the afore mentioned reason was only partially the cause. I think the real reason is because I simply become obsessed with the book... even when I don't necessarily like it. I find myself reading books from start to finish, simply because I'm obsessed with finding out the ending (even if it is predictable the entire time). This is how I've always been, and it honestly affects my daily routine because I keep trying to squeeze in more time to read. And, I'm also obsessive in this way when it comes to certain TV shows--- my recent venture into the world of Lost comes to mind. However, seeing as how I currently have no life, I suppose this really isn't all that bad of a thing. Perhaps it will keep me occupied enough to make it through the week until everyone else can play on the weekend.

Ha - glad you are enjoying the books - it makes the time go by faster throughout the day. I used them to procrastinate all summer when I had no idea what to do with my time.
