I’m back at Caribou today, and the crazy guy is here again. However, this time I am not sitting near him, and nor is it a blizzard out. I’m also not really looking for jobs today. Today I came to Caribou simply to keep myself from going nuts. Aside from my short work-out session, I spent the majority of the day willing my phone to ring (but I guess I’m not the only one because Monique says she spends every day this way). Every interview I’ve gone on lately the people seem very jealous of my “time off” while job searching. Don’t they understand that I have no money and that there are only so many days in a week where you can go to Starbucks with some made-up project to do? Not to mention I can’t handle the waiting or searching any longer. I am not now, nor have I ever been a patient person. And, waiting to hear the outcome of an interview has nearly exhausted what little patience I do posses. But, perhaps it will all be over soon.
O friends, Caribou is out of seats so the crazy man willingly offered to share his table with a pretty girl. She has no idea what she is in for, poor soul. I’m half tempted to go warn her. However, I would bet this will be more entertaining.
So, the past couple of days have been a little random, and I think I’ve been to 4 new bars. Saturday night I celebrated the Korean New Year at an “intimate dinner party” with 5 people I have never met. Nevertheless, it ended up being a blast and was actually more fun than my first New Years. I anticipated the night to be rather low-key, but within the first hour Anna was making saki martinis and passing out lemon drop shots. Obviously this pace continued and we ended up closing down some bar in Bucktown. One thing I’ve learned, even though heavy drinking is involved, shenanigans are very rare since I am always the youngest (everyone was appalled to learn I was only a rooster). I think being the youngest does have its advantages; everyone feels the need to watch out for me. One of Anna’s friends even offered to let me live with her if I’m still unemployed and become homeless.
Monday I spent the day interviewing and got home a little after 4. I quickly ate something and then threw on clothes to run to the grocery store. However, I ran into the Gold’s on the corner of my street and ended up going to a bar with them instead. We began at Messners and learned that they are doing a bus trip to the Southside for the St. Patrick’s parade, which I would like to go to. We then went to Guthries, which is a game bar. We played "Marry, Date, or Dump" and then "Scategories"- both of which were awesome. O, and Trisha gave me quarters to do my laundry.
Alright, I guess I should get started working--- I’m supposed to be doing some consulting crap which I don’t have a clue how to do.
