It's said that you learn something new every day. I believe this to be true, but my question is do you learn something new that is actually interesting. I'm going to take the next several days/weeks to try and figure this one out.
Lesson for today: Not everyone believes in saying thank you. For example, my own mother did not call to thank me for her birthday gift (even if it was a little late). Perhaps the real lesson here is not to be offended by trivial careless thoughts.

what is 'interesting' is relevant to everyone, so i don't know if you can actually measure this. mom may find being at church fri, sat, and sun very 'interesting', so learning a new fact a day about Christianity may be 'oh cool' for her. meanwhile i find it 'interesting' how she can attend the loop de loop church with loop de loop bill while still finding time to paint three 1inch circles on the living room wall. in fact i think those three 1 inch circles are very interesting. i also am wondering how your bedroom door got locked by me while i was in chicago. or how mom got to be such a bad driver in the last year.
see while i would be interested to learn all these facts you are more interested in trying to understand how she could neglect thanking you for your gracious gift (and it is gracious and i think you may have a foot fetish like brody after buying me shoes and mom a pedicure). my guess is that mom forgot because she didn't have enough trail mix to eat that day and her blood sugar was going to her brain correctly.
