so, I've spent the last hour looking online at apartments that are listed on the NU website. I don't know how detailed I got yesterday, but the town of Evanston is absolutely gorgeous. Many of the houses near the campus appear to be historic mansions. After a half hour of searching, it seems that many of these owners have too much space and are renting out rooms to grad students.
For example:
One bedroom for rent along with use of the house. Kitchen with pots, pans, bathrooms, laundry, cable TV and yard. Utilities are included. No use of my telephone and personal item. You are responsible for your food, laundry areas, personal items and cleaning products. Please clean up after yourself. Be respectful of the other people in the house, limit any music and TV sounds to a reasonable level. I have a cat named tiger, she is declawed and 14 years old. There is an alarm on the house that will be off while you are living there. Everytime the door opens, there will be a beep to let us know it is open. This will not trigger the alarm while it's off. My daughter is away at college in Illinois and might come home once in a while.
How crazy would it be if I were to live with some rich family. I'm not for sure, but I think they might frown upon my partying scene. FYI, the rent for this one is still $500 a month.

A post from Dow's email:
Deb -
Just read your updated blog and as I can no longer post to your blog
anonymously, I figured I write my comments in an e-mail to you. The whole idea of living with a family is crazy. I couldn't imagine that anyone would actually want some college kid in their home...I just see so many problems arising. How awkward would you feel if you brought some random guy home at
4:00 in the morning and the alarm beeps....you then wake up at 2:00 pm all hung over and eat your breakfast at the kitchen table while the family you're living with is having a birthday party for one of their kids. It just sounds like a reality show to me....although it would be excellent material for your blog.
By the way, when you (against my wishes) move up to Northwestern, are you still going to have your car? Is it in the city or is it in a suburb? I'm afraid that if you don't have access to a vehicle, I may not see you for a while. I'm still having trouble coping with your moving away and it hasn't even happened yet.

i must admit that it is nice to know that i am loved and that people will miss me, i would like to take this time to point out that i am not in fact dying. corey and dow talk as if they are never going to see me again. people, i am going back to being a student. i will have breaks now. in fact, you guys will probly get sick of me coming and chilling w/ you for weeks on end since i have no one at home to hang out w/ anymore. with that being said, Dow you bring up some very good points about living w/ strangers and bringing random boys home. i will have to remember to consider all angles before i make my final decision.
some mansions have several wings and several doors. u could have ur own door. i even have my back door that i have a key to enter and leave my house b/c it's my turn to park in back and i might as well enter by back. dow's right it does sound like a reality tv show.
im getting my internet on sat!
