The Grocery Game- Version II

I've now officially conquered the last main concern that I had about living in the city. Today Kate and I finally ventured to the grocery store all on our own.

To those who don't know, I have been wondering how we would accomplish our grocery shopping since neither of us have a car. We have discussed many different options with numerous people but were never really satisfied with our choices.

Background Info: there used to be a Dominicks at the end of our street, but unfortunately that burnt down last year. However, as a courtesy to its loyal customers, every Friday and Saturday Dominicks rents a little school bus and ships people to the nearest Dominicks. This was always a viable option, but we're never really in the mood to go grocery shopping on these specific days.

Today Kate decided we could walk about a mile to the nearest Jewel. We took our bookbags so that we wouldn't have to carry them all the way home. I have to admit, this was the first time that I have shopped in a grocery store w/ my bookbag on. Better yet, it was the first time I have sat outside a Jewel and loaded bags of spinach and chicken broth into a backpack (by the way, I also had 2 pairs of underwear in there that I had bought at the Gap on the way to Jewel). You know though, the whole thing didn't really make me feel trashy, even though I was sure it would.
