Facebook & Myspace
So I got this email the other day from a friend warning about how employers are searching candidates on the internet in places such as facebook and myspace. Now I had already heard this warning awhile ago, but since this was sent out by the University of Miami (which was her undergrad) I decided to think twice this time. I don't really have anything bad posted (assuming they don't search for this blog) but I suppose I do have some incriminating photos. So, I'm going to take down anything thats really bad. Here is the question: would a photo of me holding a drink (as long as I don't look wasted) or of me dancing be bad? I would appreciate thoughts on this one.

idk about myspace but u can go into ur profile on facebook and have it changed so only the people on ur friends list can view ur profile. and some people wouldnt consider it a bad thing-but i think some people would. mom (if she worked for a business that looked that stuff up) would probably be less likely to hire someone with pics like that. and u have to think of it this way: if businesses really didn't care about "incriminating" photos and info, then they wouldnt be going to the sites looking for it in the first place. o yeah and our school's paper also warned about htis a couple months ago
deb! i can't believe you are asking this?? if someone is going to care that there is a pic of you holding a drink then you are not going to be able to handle knowing that person anyway so don't worry about it!!
didn't know that people went to work to socialize
Keep both pictures on! If I were hiring, I'd want someone who knew how to have fun, not a fuddy who spends all day hunched at the cubicle.
I didn't either becca till I got the job at v3. Having people at work that you enjoy socializing w/ is more important then I realized.
