Illegal Immigration

Alright, so I haven't entirely decided where I stand on the whole immigration issue. However, I do have several thoughts/opinions. Right now there is a Chicago woman who has been served deportation papers, but she doesn't want to leave her 7 year old son behind, who is a US citizen. While I do take sympathy with her and understand her situation and possibly even support it, I have several problems with the whole situation. First of all, the woman has already been deported once and has since snuck back over the border. Second of all, the reports claim that she is a huge activist for the immigration cause and as such, many feel she shouldn't be deported. However, this morning they aired parts of her speech on the news and it was completely in Spanish and she had to have a translator. Give me an fockign break. You mean to tell me that you're trying to take on legislators and you believe in this country and in immigrants being given a break, but you can't learn English. I mean, she wouldn't even have to be fluent to give a speech, just decent enough to not sound like a jackoff. Not to mention her US son is 7. You haven't picked up any English from him??

Whatever. I guess I should begin working for the day. Right now I think they have me planned to be here until 10pm video taping some focus groups. I don't get paid here people. I'm not staying till 10.

I forgot to mention that she is now hiding out in a Church hoping that someone will come to her rescue, and that the Feds now consider her a wanted fugitive.

whether someone agrees or disagrees with the way our country is currently handling illegal immigrants, i dont think anybody can deny that we're putting a hell of a lot of time and effort into catching everyone and deporting them. if only our government would take every other concern our nation has and address it as seriously and urgently as they do illegal immigration. maybe then we would have a somewhat effective government.

and by the way i dont think all of these people should be deported. yes, i think the lady should know english but there are probably a variety of reasons why she hasn't learned it, starting with just because her son is 7 and a u.s. citizen and goes to school doesnt mean he knows a lick of english (when luke came from poland he said his school was more concerned with who had a gun in class than who could read or write and he learned how to speak SPANISH from his neighborhood before he learned english). in my opinion america telling all the illegal immigrants that they cant stay here is like the rich kid with all the toys saying he won't share with the poor kids
