Superbowl Frenzy

Another week has come and gone, and after this week several things seem fairly certain:

1. It is freezing outside and there is no end in sight. The high for Sunday's game is 5 degrees and it's supposed to be like -20 with the wind chill. Jen and I ventured out the other night and had to take cabs simply because we couldn't bare to walk more than 2 blocks. Also, I would really like to wash my car, but I see no point since it continues to snow and they continue to salt the roads. My friend Elena moved to Minneapolis this week, & I truly feel sorry for her if it's any colder there. I suppose the upside of all of this is that it's no longer 50 degrees, so global warming hasn't made quite as large of an impact as I thought last month.

2. I don't see me getting a job anytime soon. Even though I've been fairly busy with random interviews, I really don't see anything happening. Fyi, the dog walkers never called me back. But, no point in dwelling on all of this, not with all this excitement in the air- which brings me to my next point...

3. The city has gone nuts with the bears. Seriously. Everywhere you go people are decked in head to toe with orange and blue, and I've decided to share my favorite pics. This is literally all anyone has talked about for the past two weeks, and it just gets worse the closer we get to Sunday. One woman even sold add space on her pregnant belly for tickets. I just watched 25 minutes of the morning news, and a full 20 of those minutes was devoted to Bears skits, songs, cheers and predictions (of course this was the highly credited WGN, but still). I think what I find most interesting is that the city is more excited with the Bears being in the Superbowl than they were when the White Sox actually won the World Series. I guess that is a testament to how strong fan support really is for the Cubs (God only knows why). In the spirit of things, I wanted to share the fight song so everyone can get some practice in before Sunday:

Bear down, Chicago Bears, make every play clear the way to victory;
Bear down, Chicago Bears, put up a fight with a might so fearlessly.
We'll never forget the way you thrilled the nation with your T-formation.
Bear down, Chicago Bears, and let them know why you're wearing the crown.
You're the pride and joy of Illinois, Chicago Bears, bear down.

I freaking love the photos... I'd have to say I'm not surprised. People really love the freaking Bears. I'm kinda disappointed I'm missing all the pre-game hype and Chicago coverage but definitely not the bitter cold...
